New Eleven Rack...can't install Pro Tools 8

I just got an Eleven rack that came with Pro Tools 8. Everything was working fine until I had to do a clean install of Windows 7. Now the disc installer is not responding.

After I put the disc in and click Setup, a blank "Welcome to Pro Tools LE" window pops up. There is no option available to install. I even tried an external DVD drive in case in was a drive error, but to no avail.

I don't understand why it worked perfectly the first time, but now when I try to reinstall I get nothing. BTW, I was going from Windows 7 64-bit to Windows 7 64-bit. Just needed a clean install of the same OS due to some unrelated problems.

Any advice?

You could try registering on the Avid product registration page and see if the PT8 full installer appears in your account. Besides that you could order replacement discs.

heres what i did when my dvd drive failed on my main rig during the install.

go to another computer, create an ISO of the disc with PowerISO (free software). put it on a usb drive (at least 8 gb), transfer it to the destination rig, and mount the image file (the ISO file).

Worked like a charm and installed MUCH faster than off a slow dvd.

Since you are on Windows 7 64 bit, you should be using no less than Pro Tools 8.0.3 cs2.

Register everything with Avid, create your Avid account, and you should get a Download for Pro Tools 8.0.3 Full installer placed in your Avid account. Download it, install it, then I would update to PT 8.0.4cs2

Maybe it was, but PowerISO is no longer free. The trial version will only work with up to 300 M. Any other suggestions?

But isn't it limited to downloaded versions? Will they still work with Digi DVD versions provided we still have the serial number?

I had the same problem only I am using XP pro.It installed just so far then froze.
It turned out it didn't like Internet Explorer 8.
I reverted to IE6 and it installed no problem.

Thanks, I'll try that. I was holding off on registering because I hadn't decided if I was keeping the 11R or not. Strange though, because 8.0.1 was working fine for me on Windows 7 64 bit prior to the clean install. Granted, I was only using it for a couple weeks, but still...

BTW, I restored to a backup I had just prior to the clean install and everything is working great again.

I'm not sure that its applicable here but there have been instances were it was assumed that the installer was hung when in fact there was a dialog window waiting for a response behind the main installer window. You might try WIN+TAB-ing or ALT+TAB-ing through the windows to see if there another pop up window looking for your attention.
