Default Track count with PCIe HD Expansion Chassis?

Can you record 36 tracks @ 192k on a G5 and the new PCIe HD Expansion Chassis or is it still limited to 24 tracks like the old ones. I can't find any info on that on the website, does anyone know...Digi???

Yes, with dual-proc PCIe G5's and HD Expansion Chassis we support recording 36 tracks @ 192k.

Thanks for the quick reply....I should have asked if it will playback as well? I know PCI ones were able to record but not playback 36.

So, there is a difference between the PCI and E version of cards making them not equal?

hmmm ... currently 192k work for 36 tracks. Both with and without the e-chassis.

I would think that if you are not able to play back all 36 tracks you have to look at your Disk allocation. I doubt they will playback from one disk.

I did a test a some point ... recorded 128 tracks or so to one scsi drive untill the disk was full @ 48k. It worked ... of course when I hit play it wouldn't play back.

You can easily record way higher tracks counts to a single drive then you can actually reliably play back.
