Strange 10.3 problem

This is something new to me, not positive it's 10.3 but I've never had this happen.

I make an instrument track, and it's working fine. But the second that track isn't 'selected' in PT, it won't play. Never been that way before. I have the track active, but unless the track is highlighted, it's silent, no notes play, etc. How weird, right?

I can't imagine there is some setting that would cause this.
