Default Weird F#$%&ing problem.... Help!

Tracking a band using about 16 tracks. On the Overheads, the left chanel is being advanced on playback. And I don't mean just it sounds early, IT IS EARLY. Recorded early. How the hell is this possible? I am recording to a stereo trac and the signals aren't in sync. Been using ProTools since Sound Tools 1. Never seen this before.

System is:
HD3
1x192 w-8 xtra analog inputs
1x192 standard

Dual 2.7
1,5G ram
PT 6.9.3
OSX 10.4.2

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Mike

There has been an intermittant problem reported here about one side of stereo tracks getting moved out of sync with the other. This has happened to me and others, usually at mixdown stage and running the pass again will correct the issue. There has been no definitive answers as to the cause of this though there is some suspicion that the input only button being engaged may play into it. You can separate your stereo tracks into mono and slip the early side to fix this now. In the future, I would suggest that you live record only to mono tracks to avoid this problem until this issue is finally resolved.

were you on input when recording (green "I" enabled) ?

that seems to be the common problem...

happened to me. I am now manually getting out of input before record, and have not seen this bug since...

Stereo tracks
No delay compensation
NOT in "input" mode on any tracks

I will try and do the dual mono track thing. I have recorded other stereo tracks all in the same pass that are playing perfectly.

Thanks for everyones' help.

I just experienced a problem with PT7 and tracks recording out of sync. The waveforms are visually in sync but sound about 100 msec out of time. I have not done much research yet. . . hope this will not turn into a nightmare. . .

I am using a temp snare track to trigger a sample via Drumagog, which is being bussed/recorded on an audio track. . . once completed the resulting audio is ahead by about 100 msec, but the waveforms are in time within about 5 msec (I actually hear the printed snare sample before ProTools gets to the waveform on the track, but the source audio sounds as shown. . .

OSC 10.4.3
PT 7.1 cs3
HD 4 Accel (Core, Accel, 2 x Process)
G4 Dual 1.42 Ghz 1.5 GB RAM

Howard, that is very close to the delay times I'm experiencing. About 100ms is just about what I am experiencing.

This is something that seems to be showing up more and more.

Is it possible that there are mac viruses that can cause problems like this?

I doubt it is any kind of virus. . . more like PT delay compensation is going to an extreme setting for the track and not recovering. . . I wonder if there is a way to get PT to rethink it's delay compensation. . . maybe just inserting a plugin and taking it out again. I don't know. . . but I did turn off delay compensation and the problem still existed. I seem to remember there is a way to get ProTools to regenerate the waveform image for the audio? I will take a crack at the user guide. As of late I have also sometimes heard/seen a blip on the end of recorded sections when tracking with DC on. . . I have not done a lot of trouble shooting on this either, just dragged the end of the region boundry and considered it looked after for now. . . starting to get concerned though. I will be getting back to this timing problem late tonight because I have to finish the first round of mixing on this project by Monday. . .
