MBox 2 Spdif Output

Hi-

I'm trying to use the Spdif output on my MBox 2 in Cubase 7.5.

It's my understanding that the Spdif output mirrors the analog outs. Is the signal always being sent out of the Spdif or is there something I have to do to enable it?

I've seen some mention of turning on mirror spdif outputs in Pro Tools LE, basically I'm wondering if this feature will work with 3rd party software such as cubase. Thanks for any suggestions pointing me in the right direction.
