24k and 64 bit?????

this cannot be correct. do you mean 24 bit and 44.1k - 48k - something in here somwhere.

something is fouled somewhere, and i am not sure where to start. i am wondering if the os hard drive could be an issue.

your ram timings are set at 8-8-8-20. is that the recomended for you ram?? if not change them.

maybe try changing your cpu performance back to extreme.

Default Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

Hi everyone. This is my first post on these forums in a loooooooong time. But I just wanted to say thanks to everyone working on the i7 quad thread. I had mine built by ascendtech.com (not sure if I recommend them yet) and received it a couple weeks ago. It was built mostly to guitardom's specs. Anyway, it's already immeasureably better than my laptop before it, but it's not perfect yet. I've had two blue screens of death and numerous access violation errors in PT 8cs3. My dverb test wasn't all that great at first either. I was only getting like 150 dverbs (PT8) at 64 buffer setting. But that was on my internal drive (I got two in the computer). When I tried doing the test on my firewire drive, I got up to 239 dverbs at 64 buffer.

I'm not overclocking, but it's set to "turbo" in the bios.

Here are my sandra specs, I hope you guys can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

jonnn

UPDATE YOUR BIOS!!!! you are quite a ways behind. you should be at F6, you are on F3.

as posted before... in your playback engine try dropping your disk buffer to level 1 and in your prefs drop your open ended record allocation to 10 min.

ALSO:: could you try disabling BOTH of your cd/dvd drives in your device manager or bios either way and try testing again.

trash your databases/preferences/ app data via digi tech support utility or my app trasher. use the search function to find them. then restart the machine and try again.

you can just go into the bios and type in the settings where they go, it should be obvious to you, then F10 i believe to save and exit.

so was it 44.1 or 48 or somthing else for the sample rate????

Default Re: successfully running i7's, i have a question::::

i am running all 32mb cache hard drives in my system.

does anyone have a well running machine with comparable dverb numbers that is running a 16 mb cache OS drive and just a 32mb cache for tracking?????

not sure if this could be a problem for a few. have a few users with problems that are running this setup.
