Default 7.4 Grouping problems.

I just can't seem to figure out how to get my groups to work. I am doing my normal grouping routine.... (add group and setting attributes) But afterwards my solos and mutes aren't linked, when i select a track that is with in the group only one reacts. My faders aren't linked.... Whats the deal?? Am I missing something? A little help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Aaron

Do you have VCAs assigned to those groups?

It sounds like you already are but a VCA would override those settings (on purpose), that's why I asked.

Easy question, but are your groups active? You can see if they're bold or grayed out in the groups list in the lower left corner of the Edit window

they are active, how do you check if VCA is engaged?? Would this cause my mute/solo groups to stop working? Thanks for the help.

Look for a VCA channel in your PT session that is assigned to the group in question.

While in PT, select “ProTools Reference Guide” from the “Help” menu. Make your way to page 712 and read up on VCA functionality.

Incidentally, the PT Reference Guide is fully searcheable. For example, type “VCA” in the search field found at the top-right corner of the document. (If you don’t see the search field, select “Drawer” from Preview’s “View” menu.) This makes it extremely fast to search and learn about ProTool’s many features.

IHTH.

More likely you need to check your globals.

Cntrl+Cmd+G (Modify Groups), then click on the Globals tab. From there, you can check the items that you want grouped: solos, mutes, etc.

This one got me recently, too.

Looks like the global thing was the issue. Did they change this in 7.4 hd? I have never ever had to set the globals before.
