Cool Re: P7R4 Magma Chassis still supported in 8.0.3?

Hi All,

Not sure if this is relevent but,

I have a SBS technologies 7 slot chassis which I have been using for my HD4 rig for a few years now.. About 8 months ago my chassis died and I was able to get another from my PROTOOLS outlet for a good price. I was a bit peeved when I discovered recently about the discontinuation of support as I probably would have paid the extra for the new MAGMA Chassis at that time.

Anyway today I installed 8.03 and it all seems to still be working fine. I understand that often to discontinue support, doesn't mean it won't work it just means it will no longer come into the equation when problem solving. I WILL eventually buy the new chassis as I don't plan on upgrading my cards to PCIe any time soon, at least until we all find out what the Future direction of HD holds. There will be changes but to what we will have to wait and see.

I will continue doing sessions this week with the old Chassis and PTHD 8.03 and let you all know how it goes.

Best regards,

BIG D

I'm pretty sure it will not work with a macpro. It needs to be pcix to pcix. Not pcie to pcix.

I really don't think it will work. You try it and let us know. Ok?
