Fast Track C400 pitch / sample rate problem
Hello,
I experience the following problem since I bought the unit 1 1/2 years ago and it's quite annoying. Finally I found the way to this forum (since Avid seems to try everything to avoid help or serious driver updates). The problem: Restart the Computer. The whole audio output is now pitched a few semitones higher. This happens irregular. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it won't. Tried to find a scheme, but there is no. Go to C400 Control Panel -> Setup -> Samplerate Switch to 48000 and back to 44100. Problem solved. This appears on Windows 7, 8 and now 10. Tried different driver versions (of course also the most actual). Anyone out there who has the same problem? I think that's a No-Go for a "Pro" audio unit. Or may it be that my unit is kind of "broken"? Thanks for any contribution to this issue. |

Re: Fast Track C400 pitch / sample rate problem
Do you have the C400 set as the default playback device for Windows? If so, that could be part of the problem. Personally, I have my audio interface set to be used by my DAW only, and run an output from it to my sound card, speakers connected to the sound card. This prevents a lot of problems with Windows/iTunes/YouTube etc. taking over the audio interface while you're trying to record.
If you have a session set @ 48000 and Windows wants to play a sound, it will likely be @ 44100, and mess with the interface. Joel

Re: Fast Track C400 pitch / sample rate problem
Thanks for the answer.
Yes, it is the standard device. That coiuld be part of the problem. So I should connect my (onboard) sounds output with the input of the C400 to get all the non-daw sounds? Isn't there a loss in quality? |

Re: Fast Track C400 pitch / sample rate problem
Here's my connection setup, if it helps:
Audio interface set in DAW, Creative sound card set as default Windows audio device. SPDIF out of interface to SPDIF in of Creative (you could use analogue in/out) Monitors connected to output of Creative This way your interface is left alone to do DAW related tasks, but all audio is still passed through to your speakers.
