Default How bad is it to not use Combo update?

Not thinking about it, I just installed Snow Leopard update by using "Software Update." Right after I finished, I remembered that you should update with the combo update packages.

Is this something that will likely cause problems to the point that I should reinstall Snow Leopard and do the update with the combo installer?

If PT won't launch go get the Combo.

That's what I did, & it's worked great!

Did you guys install 10.6 over Leopard or do a complete clean install of 10.6 and then update to 10.6.2?

Clean install, based on numerous recommendations here on the DUC (including from DigiTechSupport). Seems to have worked just great; the OS and Pro Tools are much snappier & more stable than ever. It's really not that big a pain, either. Only took a few hours total, and there's a method you can use to save your old system settings (migration assistant, I think it's called). You can then get the combo 10.6.2 updater from Apple's website for best results, & you're set.

I've been using PT on OSX for the moment it was "qualified"... years ago, and I honestly don't ever recall doing a combo update, although no doubt there was one or two along the way.

I'd say easily that 85% of my OS updates were done thru Software Update... No problems, that I recall..

Good to know. Yes. I did a clean install and I'm in the process of moving everything over.
