Sweetwater PT|Renewal 2018 Discount .. ?

Avid just had a 20% off sale in September. I think they time it based on how revenues are shaping up for the quarter/year. Last year it was in December, though it may have started at Thanksgiving. The renewal extends 1 year from your current expiration date, so always worthwhile if you plan on keeping the PT plan.

Avid has done this 20% off promotion multiple times over the last year. Black Friday, then again at Christmas, then I believe Presidents Day in February, and then again around Fathers Day. It will definitely come around again, most likely coming up for the holidays.

Now just to find out what Avid are going to offer for their included Black Friday deal+discount. I got burned last year by upgrading too early when avid included the complete plugin bundle with upgrades.

Thats the way it has behaved for me. No matter when I input the code, I get one year added to the current expiry date. If the opposite were true, you would only dare renew on the exact day or you might loose a few days every year, so to speak.

I guess you can buy the code whenever it is on sale and save it for later though, but I have never tried that. Mine is up october 13 or so, so I have never caught any sales...

Will pick another up but isn't this just another slightly annoying Avid thing? Last week wasted money buying as soon as I'd found out i was in the grace period, (no notification from Avid) and if i'd left it i'd have saved.

Really us long time customers deserve better, not just scrabbling around for a deal. How about loyalty bonuses, like no claims discount on insurance for us on what, maybe 3 years of renewals over multiple rigs?

That is the case.
But if you stick to a "relative" (year-to-year) update (read: pay) schedule to coincide with Avid's sales, you've effectively moved your renewal date other than the very first one (from a financial point of view)

It is. Last renewal I made was a couple of weeks before expiry. End date remained the same apart from the year which changed to 2019.

I am seeing 20% black Friday discounts for Avid products, including support plan renewal up now at Sweetwater and Vintage King.

Nice that they are doing it again this year.
