Mac Pro 2.8 and 4 GB RAM- do I need more?
So, I have an Mac Pro 2.8 and 4 GB RAM- and I wonder if I need more, since everything is today on 4 gb standard.
Since upgraded to PT 9, the only crash I have is with a message warning me about memory. Do I need more RAM memory? Will 2, 4 or 8 extra make any differance? Will the performance of my sessions be better, in the sense that it will handle more plugins and so on? Thank you. |

Re: Mac Pro 2.8 and 4 GB RAM- do I need more?
Last year, I would have told you of the 2 Digi trainers that both told me that 4bg of RAM was the ideal amount. Now, given PT9 and my own experience(granted that its on a PC) I would think about doubling the RAM. While PT9 is still a 32 bit program, I did notice an improvement when I switched to a 64 bit OS(my machine was built with 6 gb or RAM from day one). Just get the fastest RAM your computer can handle(and make sure ALL RAM sticks run at the same speed).
