Default New Freeware plug-ins for ProTools?

Well there might be some freeware plugins for Pro Tools if:

Digi supported VST

or

The RTAS was an open platform, which it may be. But I can’t find any info on an SDK for any of Digi’s systems.

Do you have to pay Digi 5k a year to get the SDK or what?

There are four to five free RTAS-Mac plugins, but none for RTAS-PC as fare as I know...

If you know of any, please give us some links...

If PT LE ever supports VST and/or Direct X - I know, don't hold your breath - here are a couple of interesting plug-in sites:

Cheers,

i think if the rtas pc sdk were available freely, there would be a huge amount of cool and innovative plugins soon. they would also perhaps figure out the problem with rtas-i synths before the major companies like ni do.

What I want to do is to write plug-ins. Both Audio and Midi. On the SX platform I can do this. Well, I know how get the information and I can start doing it. But with PT there is no info avaialbe at all.

This makes me think that even to get started I would have to -pay- Digi for the right to write for -their- platform. No wonder VST has become the industry standard. There is an open training ground.

Then since VST works on every DAW except PT, why bother with anything else. Why is Digi doing this to themselves?

Why can't I learn digi's platform? How can I make myself marketable to audio software companies if I can't learn the platforms?

No wonder all the best plug-in designers write there best stuff in VST.

www.digidevelopers.com has information and the application form for development partners. There is no license fee involved for the SDK or anything else, but you do have to be approved.

From that site

Digidesign developer partners, developer materials are not available for the purposes of private use or experimentation.

One of the reasons for the worldwide success of Steinberg's innovative technologies is that our open platform standards such as ASIO and VST form the cornerstone of first-class products by renowned names in digital audio hardware, software and services.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">No wonder VST and AISO are industry standards, there is -NO WAY- to get started in the Digi platform.

Imagine a programmer, just getting started in the audio industry.

If this programmer wanted to work in the industry He would have to start somewhere. I guess that he, like every other programmer, would have to start with Steinberg.

Do you think that after he is in a position of authority that he will choose to write for the Digi platform?

Why would he do that?

I can see that Digi is so full of themselves that they can't see how the industry is slipping away from them.

It makes me so sad....and a bit angry.

If you want to keep the platform clean, then have a plug-in certification program. Don't just shut everyone who wants to work on the platform out.

*sigh*
