PT First Launch Freezes on "Signing in to your Avid account"

Probably wouldn't hurt to try, but something changed between 29 May and 30 May. The app isn't talking to the server, so I think the server is down. Sure would be nice for Avid to tell us one way or another. BTW, there is another user with the problem in the "lounges" on Avid link

OK, I finally got in. I got a system message about Avid Quicktime Server being unresponsive, and I force-quit it. I guess this is specific to Mac (Alastair2020, what are you running on?). After that, I successfully logged into my PT First app. Something like this happened the first week of April, and now again. I am not sure what the Quicktime Server does, and it doesn't seem to affect my work, which I only do locally (working on a project in the cloud is asking for trouble). Note to self: next time I can't log in, KILL AVID QUICKTIME SERVER!
