Audiosuite buffer size - adjustable in PT10?
Preview in Audiosuite plugins sometimes has random pops and dropouts.
Using Activity Monitor (Mac), I've found that the errors occur when the drive is being accessed - especially writes. Earlier versions of Pro Tools had a Preference for adjusting the Audiosuite buffer size. This has been removed in PT10. Is the new single size too small? Is there still a way of adjusting the Audiosuite buffer size in PT10 e.g. editing a preference file? Thanks for your help.

Re: Audiosuite buffer size - adjustable in PT10?
Dism - Thanks for the quick reply.
I found the information about the Audiosuite Buffer Size in a Digidesign PDF called Working with Audiosuite Plug-ins. The setting was found in Preferences/Processing - Selects the size of Pro Tools memory buffer for processing and previewing Audiosuite plug-ins. Choices are Mini, Small, Medium, Large or Jumbo. In general, choosing a smaller setting speeds up Audiosuite previewing functions. Choosing a larger buffer speeds up processing of audio files. It must have been a very old PDF. I originally thought that the setting had been removed in PT10, but I have just looked at PDFs for PT8 and PT9. It wasn't in those versions either. Perhaps the setting was removed because it is unnecessary with modern fast CPUs and drives. Is there still a way of adjusting the Audiosuite buffer size in PT10 e.g. editing a preference file? Thanks for your help.

Audiosuite buffer size - adjustable in PT10?
Oh wow, yeah I was never aware of any specific buffer size for Audiosuite over RTAS, so I guess that's before my time.
I highly doubt that is your problem, though. Have you tried any general troubleshooting? Sure your plugins are up to date? Trashed pres/dbs etc? If your problem occurs during disk writes, have you tried changing physical disks?

Re: Audiosuite buffer size - adjustable in PT10?
I'll try your suggestions.
I wonder where Pro Tools is writing to the disk when previewing Audiosuite - system drive or session drive? Thanks again for your help.
