Default Mbox 2pro issues - from bad to worse

In an attempt to fix a potential hardware failure, my local music store updated my PT8 (with cs1 installed) to PT8.01. The install failed with message " The installer could not write the receipt for "plug-in updates" However now instead of having a locateable yet broken mbox, my mac no longer recognizes or locates the mbox 2pro. Hence I can't access pt.

I now get an error along the lines that "library/startupitems/digidesign Mbox 2" doesn't have the right permissions

How do I fix this?

Maybe repair disk permissions using Disk Utility?

It sounds like you need a clean uninstall/Reinstall

What is your OS? was it updated using the combo updater?

Hi flommer,

I ran a safe uninstall and then reinstalled pt8. Then I ran a repair permissions and for some reason the pt icon in the dock disapeared.

The mbox power light is blinking but that's it.

I'm running 10.5.6 osx.

Does that help?

as Digidesign says :

you SHOULD NOT update from cs1 to 8.0.1

first YOU SHOULD update to CS3 and then 8.0.1

Yeah, i know that now. Unfortunately, I guess the guy from the store didn't know it at the time either.

Any other suggestions?

Next I'm going to try a clean uninstall and hopefully that will fx it.
