Fresh Install / Serious problems
Hey guys, my computer crashed, and I had to reformat and reinstall everything. Up until it crashed, it ran PT great for a couple years. So, right now PT will only play for 2 seconds before there is some kind of error. I have tried changing the settings PT suggests, but nothing helps. Here is my system report, if anyone can help that would be great, thanks!

Re: Fresh Install / Serious problems
A Sandra lite report would make this easier,
- Please - Use SiSoftware's Sandra Lite application to generate a full system profile:

Could you narrow that down please? It would be much easier to help you if you could tell us EXACTLY what error you were getting. Edit: and I totally agree; if you ran "PT great for a couple of years" with that audigy card in there, you were EXTREMELY lucky.

Re: Fresh Install / Serious problems
Thanks for the responses. The errors I have been getting are:
The Operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs frequently, try increasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine panel (-6088) Audio processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks. If this occurs often, reducing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine Dialog may help prevent the problem (-9129) The audio device buffer underflowed. If this occurs frequently, try decreasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine panel or remove other devices from the audio firewire bus (-6085) My computer is a Creation Station Tower (2006) from Sweetwater. I did add that Audigy card, and had no problems. If the problems are that many, I might just get a new computer. I think the processor might be bad now too. I transferred a massey plugin file from the computer to my laptop, both zipped and unzipped. The plugin didn't work right when I installed the unzipped one, but when I replaced it with the file from the zipped one, it worked fine. ???

Re: Fresh Install / Serious problems
did you install PT 8 also with the fresh install? Which version of PT did you use before? PT 8 is a lot heavier on system resources...

Re: Fresh Install / Serious problems
Thanks for the responses. I think I am just going to get a new computer, I've always wanted a Quad anyway. Thanks.

Re: Fresh Install / Serious problems
Looks like this link from the digidesign support pages might apply...
Or maybe even this one... I know you said you had Pro Tools "running great" on that system, but I'm not really sure how, and I will stand by my first statement; you were EXTREMELY lucky. Not only do you have the Audigy, which is known to cause problems with PT, but it has integrated graphics which is a HUGE 'no-no" with Pro Tools. One thing you might want to try examine is the IRQ assignments.

Re: Fresh Install / Serious problems
I've made a lot of recordings with this computer, and I haven't had any problems. I was able to do what I wanted to do. So, I guess I was lucky. But now that luck has run out...I'll check that stuff out, thanks!
