Default Metric Halo Channelstrip TDM - Great news

I just got a mail from MHLabs confirming they have a major TDM update ready for beta testing. The full release is intended for mid March. If all is well this will certainly fix all the things I am worried about.

This release solves the following problems:
Fixes Gate bug at 96k on Mix and HD systems.
Fixes Lack of support for PCIe cards.
Fixes lack of support for Accel chips on all Accel Cards.
Fixes Chip Allocation bug that could lead to DAE errors.
Fixes Window resize bug.
Fixes Compressor bug on TDM
- Compressor did not work right if both the ratio and the threshold were
too high. This lead to under-compression at high levels.

I'm sorry, but Metric Halo has lost me. Too much lag time. Can't depend on them to keep their plugins compatible and working.

I guess now that it IS working, maybe it's time to sell it.

any takers?

i got that mail from metric as well....

It has been a long while to wait - but this plug is just soooooooo sweet. I'd rather pay 13k for the Channel Strip than 13k for a mercury bundle…

And iLok support for ChannelStrip?

We've been waiting a long time for MH to support iLok.

Is it really that good? It has been around for a long time now, so one would think that newer offerings would have surpassed it.

I bought it, and it was nice, but I gave up on it because it gets broken for an interminable length of time every time there's a major hardware or software update in PT land.

Even if it's up and running now, I think you can count on it being broken again for an indefinite period of time again in the future. The track record is not good.

Is it really that great...... - Yes it is...

I dont know any plug that give me so much great stuff all at once... Besides that IMO it is by fare the most musical plug available for TDM.

Their gate is second to none
The EQ is marvelous
The Compressor - amongst very few it actually acts a REAL compressor
It has built-in delay possibilities.
Both compressor and gate have separate side-chains with EQ

It is based and modeled according to an SSL board and iMO it beats the H*** out a Waves SSL and the Channel G

But then again the world is full of opinions and this is only mine.... To every one reading this: Try it out for yourself…

I checked out channel strip but it had a gain problem.

if all modules were bypassed and the plug-in it self was not bypassed it did not pass the signal through at unity gain.
I called them about it and their response was what is a 10th of a db? I lost respect at that point. In post work and version things can cascade very quickly. plus what does this say about their attention to detail? what else is going on in there. This was back in the MIX days. can anyone check out how well it pass signal trough with out any processing. check all the bypasses and see if what goes in goes out with out using the Protools plug-in bypass.

curious

Jim
