Where is the preference file?

OS 10.14.6 installed late 2019. I was adviced not to update to catalina. 2020.3 was installed recently when it came out (on the day actually :). Maybe I need to do a new 2020.3 install. What do you think? Isn't it strange that theres no pref file?

From my experience I would suggest doing a clean Catalina install now that 10.15.4 has proven to be very snappy and stable.

But the prefs file is in user library - preferences - avid - pro tools

None so far. But I took half a week of my life to do this very clean, with installing everything by hand. Absolutely nothing unnecessary here.

Oh lord :) I have a deadline monday..

I just opend a session, and in my user shared folder / Pro tools / there is 5 files named "MicsSettings", "workspace".wal/wksp/shm and Wavecache. The "MiscsSettings" file is labeled Pro Tools preferences in kind in the finder window. But thats not the pref file, is it? (sorry for being such a question queen:)

Wrong folder.

Say your username is "newbie" you need to look for this folder:

/Users/newbie/Library/Preferences/Avid/Pro Tools

And there you should find your Pro Tools Prefs file

Strange. There is no Library in my /Users/Frank folder.. Don't know what the heck is going on. But thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

open terminal application and enter this command:

chflags nohidden /Users/newbie/Library/

Still nothing. Maybe it has something to do with the username, since it was changed after I got it back from the computer-refurb guy. Thanks for trying, Janne.

Yes the user library is hidden by default, because (unix) newbies are prone to messing it up

With the instructions I gave you, you should be able to unhide the folder and find your preference file.
