Default Clicks and Pops thru ADAT in w/clock set to optical

They are very frequent.

Not as frequent as if I have the clock set to internal (massive clicks)

Setting the clock to optical used to fix this, but since it doesn't fix it now,
I'm stuck.

Help

Well you need to set the clock on the ADAT Device as well -

if your Master Clock is Pro-Tools - you have to set the ADAT device to "Slave from Optical" - if you set Pro-Tools to "Optical Clock" you have to set the ADAT device to "MASTER" and make sure you're creating sessions with the same Bit Depth, and Samplerate settings of the "Master Clock"

Same here. I am getting clicks regardless of setting the clock to internal/external or slave or master on my oo3 or ADAT device. I have had an 002 and an 003r for many years and have never had this problem until PTLE8. Help Digi Help!!

Have you tried ANY troubleshooting at all? New cables? Different cables? Shorter cables? Another device as your clock master to see if there might be a problem with the current device?

I have tried differnet cables switching them etc.. etc.. As mentioned I have been a PTLE users for quite a while, since version 5.x. That said, I am not gettng any of the pops clicks etc.. in Logic Pro 8. I will need to do more extensive testing there. I will delay my final judgement after more testing and troubleshooting. I will also try PTLE 7.4 on my Mackbook pro to see if the same issues arise. It will be interesting. I will report back in the next day or two..

Thanks

Robert

OK,

I think I resolved my problem. I did some testing and it seems to be fine now. What I discovered, which is weird is, I had my ADAT unit as Master and my rate set to 44.1Hz in the Digi Hardware setup screen, all is good right?? Well, I then went to Audio/MIDI setup on my mac and the sample rate was set to 48Hz there.. What is up with that?????? I know it has always been 44.1. as I never do video on this box

I changed it to 44.1 under my 003 interface and it all seems to be fine now..

If anything changes, I will let you know but it does seem a little weird that got changed and they were not the same as the DIGI Hardware setup screen.

Hope this helps someone else..

Cheers

Well it appeared to be fixed, but..... Like Poltergeists, "Their Back"

It does pop in Logic Pro too, so it is a clocking issue with the ADAT and Digi Hardware. I know everything is setup properly as this is not Rocket-Science. I will try some different Light-pipe cables to see if that helps. I will also try to sync via word-clock.. I am very discouraged here. I could not record drums when I had a musician in the studio due to this issue.

More to come....

OK,

It is now fixed. I ended up replacing the ADAT cables with better quality cables and all appears to be fine. The funny thing is I had used these other cables for years with no problem. Who knows?? Hope this helps someone else.

Robert..

Cool Re: Clicks and Pops thru ADAT in w/clock set to optical

Hello,

I have a Digimax - lightpipe - 002R which ran flawlessly before my upgrade to PT 8.

Now I get pops and clicks. Have set hardware to ADAT/optical .
Sessions are 44.1 khz.

I have changed my cable to monster cable.

Worked through the Tech Sup Folder, will try again. I will also try the
Audio set up in MAC sample rate.

Pops and Clicks, anyone yet find a solution?

Thanks,
