Default Looped selection playback question

Hi All,

i am new to PT9 and need some help: is there a way to playback a selection from a specific position within that selection, see picture below to get a better understanding, WITHOUT losing the selection. This needs to happen in loop playback mode. Other Daws seem to do this by default...

hope you guys can make sense of this question

Thanks

Hi Siddhant,

you might be right, I have tried all combinations also with the few options in preferences. PT is so advanced, someone here might have an idea how to do it?

Hope you get your HD issue resolved soon... keep a cool head.

Headsup.

if you hit CTRL/COMMAND + P it will activate dynamic transport mode. which unlinks the timeline/edit selection and lets you start from wherever you want.

It will make the timeline ruler slightly bigger, and you double click on the new part of the ruler (where the start marker will be) to select a new start point and play at the same time.

So you can have a timeline selection, a different edit selection, and start from within the timeline selection or before it if you want.

also I forgot to mention that loop playback is automatically enabled if you turn dynamic transport on.

Thanks Mike, thats exactly what i was missing, i am glad you understood what i meant. two more questions

is tend to find the positions from i want to play from within a waveform (as opposed to the new ruler) and would like to drop my startpoint there somehow, is that or something similar possible?

and

is there an option of playing from the startpoint of that new loop selection made rather than the play point within that, it would be great to have both available without losing the play position

MANY THANKS

Thats the double edged sword, you get so many options for editing/looping/playback but you always have to keep track of your timeline and startpoints

Thanks for the response.

Dynamic transport does the job, i just have to get used to how things work in PT. Coming from cubase PT is a big upgrade, top notch workflow. I guess i have found my new home.
