Default Connecting Pioneer CD-Js into the 003?

I don't have the DJ mixer at this point because it's out of my budge for now. But I want to use the pioneer CD-J with the console 003 as the mixer. Is this possible? I do know that I can do it through pro tools correct? Create 2 audio tracks and route the signals just like I would a mic? What inputs should I connect on the back?

Just plug it into a pair of quarter inch inputs like 1&2 and select the DI input button. Match the GAIN knobs and get the level just into the yellow, and you should be ready to record.

But exactly what are you trying to do? Mix at a live DJ event? Record into Pro Tools or what?

A 003 is *not* a live mixer. It's a recording interface with a control surface built into it. You can use it to record into Pro Tools or other DAWs, and it uses that DAW as the mixer, so it requires having a computer running DAW software connected to it to work.

Just to use at home for now. Until I get the mixer.

There is that^^ The 003 doesn't have the Stand-Alone mode that the older 002 mixer has. The 002 could actually be used as a simple 8 channel mixer, without a computer. As Darryl said, the 003 needs to have Pro Tools open to offer any mixing functions, BUT the 003 DOES have a pair of AUX inputs on the back that can be listened thru your headphones or monitors by hitting the AUX to Mon button(I think that's what its called).
