Default Takamine Disaster II - Resurrection!

Some of you may remember my post about what happened to my dear old Tak 12 string from a couple of years back. http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=394718
It left off with me waiting for a response/action from Takamine. That never materialized.

To quote Loudon Wainwright III; "I put the remains in its case and I put that case away." And that, as they say, was that.

Then, about six months ago, one of the guys in the band introduced me to a friend of hers who had done some fantastic work on some of her stringed instruments.

So I took my dead guitar and left it with Erick, builder of weird banjo's and self taught luthier. With some TLC, elbow grease and a batch of marine grade epoxy he managed to bring baby back to life. Incredible job!

So, by way of thank you to those who offered support, solutions and great ideas here back then I'm posting this Good-News-Everyone! sequel.

Thanks all!

Great news! Indeed, sometimes all its needed is a fresh, self taught mind and desire to help and passion for the music

Looks great! Does my little eye spy a strip of binding on the back of the bridge where the crack would be? Nice touch if that's so

No, no strip Jack. I think it's just the light.

I would normally agree, but in this case, maybe not. A good friend bought an exceptional Takamine many years ago. Less than a year in, the neck went berserk and they replaced it. Replacement was not exceptional. 6 months later, the replacement's neck went to hell and again, they replaced it. 3rd time was even less good than #2..........

Actually, they did. Kinda.

The store I originally bought the instrument from has since changed ownership and no longer carries the Takamine brand. So that wasn't an option.

The Yurpian distributor apparently doesn't deal directly with private customers. They do not provide a way to contact them. Also, not an option.

So, I emailed Takamine Japan directly. And promptly got an answer; apologies for the inconvenience and an offer to repair without any charge.
I then proceeded to thank them politely for their timely response and expressed my appreciation for the concern they showed for this distraught plucker. Domo arigato!

However, after I provided Takamine San with requested info on my location & whereabouts in the world the line went quite dead.
I suppose something could have gone wrong with the handing off of the matter to the regional distributor.
I can even imagine a junior head office employee getting his/her butt kicked by the floor manager for making promises to some Gajin strummer half a world away they couldn't possibly hope to fulfill...

Who knows? Anyway, that's when I had my 'Red Guitar' moment and -literally- closed the case.
Until a gal I know said she knew a guy... So now I've got a new friend and my resurrected, 'Jon Snurr Special' twelve string is back in the game.

For all we know -Dave be praised!- this could very well be the best of all possible outcomes.
