Hi Mike, I responded on the other thread but here is the scoop.....

The issue is being looked at by the development team now under bug LRE-10286 " Pro Tools 2023.12.1 Windows Installer is corrupt"

what we dont want is for them to fix it by just redoing the installer and having it happen again hence the looking at what broke it first.

Hi Folks - I just got an update that the download link for Pro Tools 2023.12.1 has been updated. I tested it and I was able to extract the file after I downloaded Pro Tools using the updated file.

Yup, I can confirm, extracts nicely now, on Windows 11 with Win-Rar.

Just out of personal curiosity, may I know what the issue was?

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but the other one has been closed. I didn't think it was necessary to start a new thread for a slightly related question/ opinion.

I don't use Dolby Atmos and don't have HD/HDX hardware. Therefore, there does not seem to be any reason for me to upgrade from 2012.12 to 2012.12.1, right? I'd gladly sit this one out to save the time of making a new set of backups, doing a fresh install of the OS, installing Protools 2023.12.1, reinstalling and testing plugins, deleting prefs, etc. I'll just wait until the next version (not a hot fix)...unless someone thinks there is valid reason for me to go to 2023.12.1.

(Edit: Sorry I didn't realize this thread was in the Windows forum (I jumped from the other thread), however my question/option remains.)

Hello there..... Unless these would impact you, then no need to upgrade.

The 2023.12.1 release fixes the following issues.

PT-317106 - AAE -1164 error and HDX/HD Native firmware update failure with Pro Tools 2023.12 (Mac and Windows)

PT-317207 - Offline bounced re-renders and ADMs have clicks and drop-outs if certain plug-ins are used in the session

PT-316860 - Online bounce to ADM results in SWOD with ADC over 8000 samples

Hey Charles,
Is there a preference or advantage to updating from Avid Link or Downloading Updates manually?

Also I think I noticed the drag clip problem may have been addressed? It didn't mention anything about the second screen problem so I wasn't sure. Any insight?

Upon checking the drag clip problem has been address through PT-306365. As for the Second Screen problem, can you provide more details so I can also look it up just to make sure?
