Default 10.3.9/Yosemite

Hi all!

I saw a thread that discussed this in the ProTools 10 forum but my question is slightly different.

I just bought a Mac 10.10 (Yosemite). I am trying to install ProTools on it. In my Avid account, the ProTools available to me to install is 10.3.9. For some reason, this results in an installation error during the system check...

My question is: If PT's 11 is a free upgrade for PT's 10 users, is there any way for me to install PT's 11 directly? I know it's pathetic but I can't figure out a way to do this....

Thanks to all,

PT 10 is not signed to let Gatekeeper instal it on OSX 10.10, it never will be

free 10 to 11 upgrade is only for a small group that qualified (bought 10 30 days before 11 came out)

11 will directly instal on 10.10

There is a workaround if you search on here, but it's a USE AT YOUR OWN RISK type of move. I tested it, got PT10.3.9 to install, but there are some graphics glitches that made it unusable for me. If you have PT 10, just pay the $200 for the upgrade and move on to PT's 11.3.

Thanks for this feedback... I really thought the upgrade to 11 was free.

I do know someone who has 10.3.9 on Yosemite. But he installed it on Mavericks then upgraded the system so I assumed it was a bug with the install. Come to think of it, he does have a strange glitch with his menus (you can't see the options until you roll the cursor over them).

These kind of things may very well happen when you use unsupported software configuration

hello guys, i have the same problem i'm hak from france. sorry for my english.

i have the same problem than DA pianist. But me i do not have a problem to bye the upgrade from protools 10 to 11.

but i am on yosemite. it's impossible to install protools 10 on yosemite. I would like to bye the update from protools 10 to 11 on the avid web site and from my account. And my question is : will i can download and install protools 11 upgrade from 10, because i do not have protools 10 installed on yosemite ?

i am not sure and i need to know if it's possible te download the installer for protools 11 by the crossgrade.
is what pro tools 10 must be installed to make the update? I remind you that it is not possible to install protools 10 of Yosemite. Is what I have to buy the full version so that it works?

thank you for your answer

PT11 installer is a full installer so you do not have to have anything installed. Just upgrade your license and install latest PT11 and you should be fine.

Welcome to the forum :)

thank you for your answer and thank you for your welcome. you say that i can upgrade my licence in the Avid web site from protools 10 to 11 and i will can install protools 11 without having protools 10 installed on my Mac ?

when i phoned to a store he said me that it's impossible if protools 10 in not installed on my computer. Me it's a clean install. i do not have protools or other application installed. i just bought a new mac. and i do not want to downgrade that new mac to maverick, to be able to download maverick , install protools 10 and after update to yosemite and bye the crossbreed. what do you think ?

thx
