Default Waves TDM Mercury is gone

From an email from Waves:

"In appreciation of your continued support, Waves is pleased to offer you the opportunity to purchase the new RS56 passive EQ plugin at an additional 25% discount off its special introductory price of $99 Native/$149 SoundGrid."

It used to be that us Mercury customers got new plugins added to the bundle for free. Not anymore! Good riddance. Someone could carve these words into some very big stone: "I WILL NOT BUY WAVES DSP"

:maddened:

This particular plugin is unique, because it's a special license agreement with Abbey Road. Even Mercury native owners still have to buy it separately.

I expect that you'll get "normal" Waves plugins added free if your Mercury is WUP'd. You should at least get native and Soundgrid licenses if you have Mercury TDM.

Sorry but I don't follow your thinking.

"Even Mercury Native"... c'mon, Mercury TDM should weigh more..?

"normal Waves plugins"... c'mon, do you mean those 90's [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]ty ones where the C1 was only one that could be used in this millenium..?

Waves has totally p*ssed us, that's for sure, I'm not going to forget this. There's nothing so special in this plug compared to the previous REDD (which is also AbbeyRoad) that was included in Mercury.

Reminds me about the days of "Waves Gold = Waves Everything". Sure. Then there was Platinum and whatever until Mercury... so what's next?

Screw me once, shame on me. Screw me twice........

and you have to use a pot holder to grab the authorizations. As for me, I just bought a UAD Quad and will look to eliminate Waves from my future

JFreak,

Maybe I could have worded it different. This particular plugin is under a different license agreement, just like the Kings Mics and the SSL bundle. It's nothing new in that regard. Also, they've been making some plugins native only (such as the Signature Series) for years now, before they even made a decision to discontinue TDM/DSP.

So I was just pointing out that this new plugin, and the fact that they're charging extra for it, would still be the same even if they were continuing to support TDM or HDX. And when I mentioned "normal" Waves plugins, I meant 99.9% of their plugins other than the occasional separate license ones like this one.

I guess you reaction sounded like they were completely abandoning the concept of Mercury, and I was just pointing out that this plugin release does not indicate that.

As you mentioned though, we did give Mercury owners an extra discount off the already low intro price.
