Default AMD Ryzen 9 vs Intel i9

Hi!
A my friend want to buy a Cpu Ryzen 9 3950X (16 core 64 MB total L3 cache). Essentialy for use with PT (he uses many... many plugins).
I advised him to buy an Intel i9-9900k processor... I bought the same processor and my pc works without problems.

What do you think?

The Ryzen is a nice processor and many use them successfully with PT, but I typically lean towards Intel when buying a processor for my DAW.
Mainly because motherboard support is usually better, the Intel chipsets are supported better. And, if you want things like Thunderbolt, you can't find an AMD board that supports it (at least when I last checked).

Performance wise, I don't think going one way or the other will gain you much. It's more important to spec out a system for what you plan to use it for. Either one will get you there in that case.

Hi, junkgear!
In your opinion, is an i9-9900k processor enough powerful to work well with pro tools?

The i9-9900k processor is a stone cold killer with Pro Tools Ultimate @32 buffer, with Vanilla Pro Tools it's a no-brainer. I'm running 64 Gb of DDR4 3200 and a 1 TB NVMe drive for the OS, 8 Tb spinner for storage, no issues.
