One thing that caught us at the NAMM show with our 3 S1's, Dock and 4 tablets was that the WiFi and Ethernet were both connected to the same router. EuControl was using the WiFi connect and not the Ethernet which then had to share bandwidth with the 4 tablets which were also connected to the router via Wifi. Once we turned off WiFi on the Mac everything started to work great.
There are a number of bad setup practices that can cause issues. Setting Static IP address just works around some of them (we didn't do this at the NAMM show and it worked OK) Please not that I think that setting static addresses doesnt work correctly in the current latest 19.12.1 firmware and is fixed in the 20.1 release coming up in a couple of weeks.

Eddie, thanks for chiming in, I thought EuCon needed a WiFi Connection, for the tablets, is this not true? If so I'll disable Wifi, and try that, I did discover that Restarting EuCon app helps, but it is still frustrating not to have it reliably connect

The tablets should connect to the Router via WiFi (preferably 5g) The surfaces and Mac to the router via ethernet cable.

That is what I'm doing, I found out it won't work without the WiFi, I work at CBS and the ethernet connection is for a shared ISIS system, I wonder if that is causing some issues, I don't have any idea, just a thought

2 things: If Ethernet is working OK, you shouldn't need the WiFi on at all. Having EUCON on the same network as ISIS is anther issue as it can flood the network with data and kill EUCON. Best way to connect EUCON is to use a separate WiFi Router. Connect it to the MAC using a different port and then connect the surface to it. Change the Tablet WiFi to this new router.

Got it...will try that solution, thank you for your help.

Having the same issues here with the S1 losing connection each time I restart.
Not using any router. Just ethernet cable going into the back of the 2019 Mac Pro...
I'm afraid of overusing the power on/off button and increasing its ware and tare just because of this connection problem.

According to the manual, it should just work but for some reason, it doesn't.
Eddie, should I be using a router? How do other users use the S1 and get consistent results?
Or is this just a bug that needs to be ironed out...(?)

Every network setup is different. One thing that could cause this is a change in any part of the networking...for instance if Wifi connects to a network whist the S1 is connected. The Mac rebuilds the network and this breaks EUCON. The most stable way is to connect the MAC and S1 to a router via Ethernet (turn WiFi off on the Mac.) Connect any tablets via Wifi to the router.

This may work for home studio installations, but those of us in a shared studio environment, this is not possible, the Dock always connects, this seems to be an S! problem, and hopefully, it will get fixed
