problem recording with pro tools first

I'm having problems recording my guitar with pro tools. i can hear my guitar through the progam, i can hear and record through my microphone, the only thing that i can't do is record with my guitar. I googled my problem and could not find any solutions. When i record, i don't see any lines or whatsoever, its only an empty red space going forward even though i hear myself playing. I am using a scarlett solo, thanks for your help.

Did you choose Scarlet as your interface in the pro Tools audio
setting, ?

You got to open your I\O setting and set up your Scarlett......

I can't find the i/o section in my set up tab and when i follow the instructions in the video it does'nt work. He is using pro tools 12.4 and i'm using pro tools 18.4. When i hold ctrl N it does'nt open anything. My playback engine is set to my focusrite. I guess i just need to figure out how to open my i/o. I looked and tried alot of stuff on how to open them and none of them works for me, It's not in my set up tab, it does'nt open anything if i hold ctrl N and if i just hold N, it opens my playback engine and yes i do hold it in start up.
