One thing for sure, both these companies offer no addition saving to those upgrading from more recent versions.

Yeah it depends on what you need and what you already have. I want the full Symphony Series and it's cheaper to upgrade to K12UCE than buying them alone or buying another string, horn, and percussion bundle.

I'm curious to see what comes of Collectors Edition in a couple years when 13 is due. Will there be a 13UCE? Will there be something ABOVE that? Like Komplete 13 Ultimate Collectors Edition and the Temple of Doom?

I've been thinking NI might be going subscription. Since their layoffs and restructuring and the integration to sounds.com, along with their statements...

For that, a new platform is currently being developed with the goal of offering new ways of accessing the company's core products and services...

So, with that, and the price being reasonable ($299 even at Sweetwater) it's a good deal for my needs.

I almost wonder if it was called "Collector's Edition" because it's going to be the last version? At least the last version delivered this way.

With subs becoming common, and NI's catalog being so large and out of the reach of many not already in the NI world ($1,599 is a lot of money to drop on VI's) I can see them doing what East/West has done with Composer Cloud. $29 a month, you get ALL the libraries.

In a "perfect world" I don't really mind a sub IF IT HAS VALUE! I like the PA sub. For me it's only $16 a month and it generates more than that, so it works. But I don't want a bunch of different subs.

If a couple of these companies would merge and provide all of their plugins at one price, it would be huge.

If you take Waves, Plugin Alliance, Slate, and iZotope, they have bundles with pretty much all the mixing tools you need (eq, comp/limiters, fx, etc...)

If you take NI or East/West, they have bundles with almost all the virtual instruments you would need.

If we got a Waves + NI sub option or a Plugin Alliance + NI sub option for $29 a month it would take over the world, because you would finally have a single sub that would provide 95% of what most people would ever need.

Same with a lot of other companies with compressors and EQ’s ... all that happens is the output signal gets louder and not ”better” ... so we can replicate that saturation plugin just by adding more gain on our SSL console and its not a lie what you do but IMNSHO it is not honest demos.

IK should hire Dan Worrall to do their demo videos. He's excellent at explaining things and doing a video right. Another fellow that's good is the guy that does the Mixing with Mike videos. He goes to great pains to gain stage correctly.

Agree!

Those videos we see too often is doing nothing as long as the volumes aren’t the same how are we supposed to know what a certain plugin actually do other than raise the overall output gain?!
