Try using the Rig out for your input on the track in PT.

if you are recording in Pro tools, why not just use the a plugin Compressor that comes with Pro Tools? or a 3rd party compressor? I would not (personally) commit to a certain compression setting during the recording stage, which is what makes plug ins so powerful and useful.

I would go straight in, no effects recorded. Leave the vocal compression until the mixing stage IMO.

You need to set the Rig Input to Mic in User Options. That should help.

I may be wrong, but I think what he's maybe wanting to do which is what I do and take advantage of being able to record them in low latency mode. This way you can just record two tracks simultaneously, one wet and one direct basically like the acoustic thing I did and then when you're mixing, use the direct track or both for that matter. Put the burden of the processing on the 11R when you can and also get the desired vocal vibe in your phones, again without tapping into any more resources from the PC than you need. Just a thought...?

Last weekend I recorded vocals using the 11R compressor and eq.
Remember you can always record both mic input (raw signal) and the rig output (signal after 11R compressor + eq). If you change your mind about settings, reamp the raw mic signal.
I don't know if it's just me (I'm not an expert at all), but I noticed a great improvement on sound quality using the 11R compressor and eq over pro tools. I compared the 11R rig output signal with the raw signal (mic output) plus PT compressor and eq.
