Pro Tools could not initialize the Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO.....

Hey so, I am often receiving this message

"Pro Tools could not initialize the Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO. Please make sure the device is configured correctly."

I havn't changed anything so it is strange that this has happened... my Protools will also work using the onboard sondcard with ASIO4ALL but not with my steinberg... I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Protools which has not fixed the problem.

I don't believe the problem to be with the Steinberg itself as about 1 in every 10 times it will just work, but it will also work with Ableton

has anyone had this or know whats going on?

The first thing to try is setting the sample rate with the Yamaha's control panel to match whatever was last used by Pro Tools (before starting Pro Tools). What Version of Pro Tools and which Yamaha device?

Make sure the Yamaha Steinberg ASIO Device is not set as the default Windows playback or recording device.

Control Panel > Sound > Playback

Control Panel > Sound > Recording
