Default The Audio Stems from the Virtual Instruments?

I'm sure that as a new convert to PT on the Mac from Sonar on the PC, that I'm simply missing something in translation.

Can anyone advise how to get the audio from the virtual instrument to generate audio on the adjacent track?

I can see/hear the midi info fine, can edit it easily enough, I just want to be able to commit it to audio shortly after tracking it.

In Sonor, this was called "Freeze Synth", and if you wanted to go back to edit any midi data, you just "Unfreeze".

Looking for the PT equivalent, if any.

Thanks in advance for any counsel.

Set the Instrument track output to a bus. Create an Audio track and set its input to the same bus(mono or stereo as appropriate). Put the audio track in record and go. Alternate method:solo the instrument track and do a Bounce to Disk. Set parameters to the same as the session(sample rate and bit depth) and check the box for Import After Bounce

Thank you, just got off the phone with Avid and they gave me the exact same counsel.

All up and running, contacted AVID, let them drive for a minute, they got me up to speed on setting up adjacent audio tracks to my virtual instrument tracks, just bussing was all.

Sonar used a different language, so that's what gets lost in translation from one to the other. I figured out what was causing the clicks & pops, which was a setting on the playback engine.

I now have a 32 track template created with eq, dynamics, labeled tracks color coded by category/instrument, all located on the console just like I like them. All the subgroups & master on the far right, all tracks from left to right. All I have to do to create a session is open the template, arm a track, decide which soft synth I'm gonna use for any particular part, then record it. I still have to learn how to import loops but I don't imagine that's difficult or all that different from Sonar in their terminology. I tell ya one thing, this thing runs like a tank! I can definitely tell a difference between Sonar and PT as far as their audio engine. PT is a significantly more robust and vibrant, but then again, it's PT12 and Sonar is version 8 from around 2008. I will continue to use Sonar to complete the current project, mainly for workflow, and continuity in sound, but when I finished tracking everything, perhaps then I'll transfer it all into PT prior to handing it off for mixing. As my own rule of thumb, I never do the final mix down of my own material. I feel it is best to have some objective ears and expertise involved at that point. Thanks for your help guys, it means so much to me.
