Default Audio Suite / Offline processing

Since i'm using PT (standard 12.61) for a while now and grading up to 2018.7 Ultmt soon, i'm wondering if someone can recommend a workflow when it comes to clip based offline (or online) effect processing.
Coming from Nuendo i used the "Offline Process History" feature a lot. Means that you put certain effect changes on a clip, but could always return to the original or even delete specific steps in the effect process history of a clip. Available all the time, even after closing and re-opening a session.
Could someone explain a workflow to do similar in PT?

You could duplicate the track and keep the original hidden and deactivated, or better - save the original in a playlist, duplicate the playlist, apply the processing, duplicate the playlist, apply the processing and so on.

Thanks Chris! Building a offline process clip history through playlist in pt is probably the best idea to get close to the mentioned feature. Although (if possible with the pt code) an „audio suite process history“ would be a great addition and feature wish for me.
