Pro Tools & Euphonix Mc Control & Mc Mix...
Has anyone started using these control surface's with Pro Tools LE & if so, what has been the results? I was watching some footage on "Youtube.com" today & there seems to be some jitter issues (Mc Mix) with the faders, depending on what program you are using. I am seriously looking at making the purchase of the control surfaces, because of the flexabilty to be used with other programs:
This would be the set-up that I would use them for: 1.) Pro Tools 7.4.3c 2.) Final Cut Studio 2 3.) Reason 4.0 Current set-up: Set-up 1.) Power Mac G5, 2.0 Ghz, w/ 8GB ram, (2) 20" Cinema Display's, Digi 002 Big Knob, Yamaha HS-50's, Alesis M1 Active 620's, Art's MPA Gold preamp, Beyerdyamic DT-770 Pro & AKG K240's, Yamaha SPX-90, AKIA 2000, (2) Monster Power Pro 2500 surge protector's. CAD Trion 8000 mic & Blue Bluebird mic. Fantom X6 Set-up 2.) Spectral CUBE-1100 PC, 3.0GHz, w/ GB of ram (1) 19" Samsung display, DIGI 003 rack KORG microKONTROL, KORG KONTROLpad, running Pro Tools 7.4.3c, FL 8 & Reason 4.0, Truth's monitors, AKG 240's, Monster Power 2500 surge protector's. 4 x 6 x 8 Vocal both, (2) pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones Plugins: McDSP, SoundToys, URS, Waves Mecury Bundle, Waves SSL & API Bundles, Wave Arts, Massey, NoMad, Digidesign & Bomb Factory plugins. Re: Pro Tools & Euphonix Mc Control & Mc Mix...
I wasn't overly impressed with what I saw when I asked for a demo of it. It seemed to have connection issues. Funny thing, it almost looked to work better in Pro Tools than in Logic. Two different guys demoing it though. Could've been the reason.
I shot a video for it specifically with Pro Tools, in case you haven't seen it: http://www.protoolerblog.com/2008/03...ith-pro-tools/ |

Stiff,
Thanks for your quick response & for the video, I've looked at all the video's & re-read all the reviews that I have been able to find. I had orginal considered purchasing the C-24, but I'm looking at flexiablity & continued growth for my studio & Euphonix has a great rep. for making solid products, so this is why I am seriously considering making this purchase (adding the other 2 mixes down the road, which gives me a total of 36 fader's for not only Pro Tools, but across all of my choosen platforms). I've taken in consideration that this is a new items & as with most things new, there are buggs & kinks to be worked out. I just believe for the price, functionality and so on, that this is a wise investment, but I would still like to hear from other's with personal hands-on experience. |

Re: Pro Tools & Euphonix Mc Control & Mc Mix...
Don't do it. I got one and tried it for a day, and returned it the next. the functionality is not that great for pro tools, and the lag was awful. also, you can't switch banks like you normally would with a controller and in the end, you can't actually access all the channels if you have a high track count. if all you do is pro tools then get a command 8 or a c-24.
my 2 cents. -greg- |

Here's a couple of things that I know, because I've worked a Ton with the Sys5 MC, and now the MC Mix.. EuCon is sensitive to ethernet dropouts. Use Shielded CAT-5 Cables. That's actually really important. Don't share the ethernet port with internet stuff. If you do, you will have issues. If you only have one E-port, get a 100BT ethernet card and install it in your computer- you will get better performance. Make sure you are setup exactly as Euphonix spec's. |
