Aws 948 fader width

I'm wondering what's the width of the faders for the aws 948. Looking at them they seem to be a lot wider in between than the s6 or any other Avid controller, am I wrong?

Comparing pictures of the two side by side the AWS948 faders do look further apart width-wise than the S6. What makes it difficult to actually get a grip on this is that there's empty space between the faders on the 948 whereas on the S6 they have the metering leds.

I'd love a 948 but at roughly $100k US it ain't cheap but then you've got the nice SSL pre's and eq's on each channel.
