Had same issue, narrowed it down to Slate VMR plugin.

Removing VMR = session load time halved!

When I start PT I open a blank session first create an audio track and load Slate VMR on that track. After it loads I close the session and open the session(s) I need after that. It a hassle sure enough but after that one blank session every session after loads normally. If you still have problems try trashing your preferences and (or) data bases.

That's interesting!! Meanwhile, its still no longer than changing reels on a 2" machine(but sessions are loading slower here as well)

Very interesting:) Right now my sessions take about 5 minutes from the time I click on the pt icon. After removing the Slate VMR it takes less than half that time. So , I need the VMR so I guess I have to live with the annoying wait time. thanks for all your replys

Everytime my sessions take that long I have to trash my preferences....so I know what your talking about. Maybe try a clean install of PT.

Same here. Slate is the culpit. I contacted them about this months ago. Nothing have happened. I don't use Slate anymore. Too bad.
