Tempted to try the update, since PT LE 8.0.3 is already completely inoperable on my i7 iMac. I'll probably resist sit on it for a day or two just to be sure. Any more reports out there?

Yes. Maybe 10.6.3 will push it further beyond inoperability.

It is proven many times, that it is a very brave action to upgrade without avid qualification of the update. I know that those, who has new imacs, and have many problems, it is very hard to wait, but everybody should remember that this update is NOT yet qualified.
If anyone really cannot wait, than at least make a full backup before the install. Ah, and remember, always combo updater!

I updated and everything seems to work. (Just Pro Tools, no third party anything)

Slim, if you have time, could you give this a try?

1. From the desktop with PTools LE not open, set your SystemPrefs>Sound to your 002R for OutPut,
2. Open any QuickTime file (mp3, wav, mov, etc.)
3. Hit "play". Is there (still) a notable delay before the QT file starts playing or does it start right away?

many thanks,

I've heard this often, but never been sure why. What's the difference?

Installed the 10.6.3 Combo update onto FW drive 3 and used it as the startup disk. Feels pretty good to me.

I have PTLE 8.03cs1 on that system drive and it works fine. Actually, better than before. 8.03cs1 was previously a dog for me, so I have been running 10.6.2/8.01cs1 quite happily on the main system drive for a while now track laying and mixing a TV series with no issues whatsoever.

Those 8.01cs1 sessions all open and play back with video without a hitch in 8.03cs1 on 10.6.3.

So, no disqualification here. Try it from a second drive.

Sorry, I can't help you as I don't use or install the Core Audio drivers. I learned how crappy they were many many years ago and have avoided Digi's Core Audio drivers like the plague ever since.

I'm running an 8-Core Mac Pro, UAD PCI cards, MP toolkit, Digi 002 and PT 8.0.3cs1. Updated to OS X 10.6.3 with zero issues.

ah well, thanks for responding.
I'm kind of stuck with 'em (Digi Core Audio drivers, that is) as I'm using my 002R as an interface for Digital Performer. (somewhat) Amazingly, the Digi Core Audio driver works like a champ with DP.
But I'm waiting...and hoping...for a really stable one that'll work with everything else Core Audio...notably, QuickTime.
