Getting those snares/claps that expand and close??
Heya, Ive been playing with the Gate Expander and DVerb for about two days trying to get that perfect sounding snare that seems to open up and close within seconds, I suppose the most popular example of this effect would be the layered snare/clap in the Dre produced In the Club. If someone could explain the process in detail that'd be cool.

Re: Getting those snares/claps that expand and clo
quick example: lets say your working with midi. Take however many sounds you want, but typical 2 and 4 sounds. Like a clap, snare... bla bla. Trigger all of them on the 2 and 4 of the bar. After you've place a few sounds there, unlock the grid in pt. Now, go into the few hits you put on the 2 and 4. Slide them just milliseconds away from each other. This is where experimenting will come in handy. the sharpest sound shouldn't be "shifted" and stay right on quantized on the 2 and 4. The other sounds should have a small shift before and after. All this makes to a tight "build up" and "take down" to the main quantized sound. You will have to work with levels and such at the pre and post sounds to your main sound. and the sharp sound should obviously be the loudest... this may sound weird, but start experimenting with it. It's the most versatile way of getting the sound your looking for. And WORK WITH IT! Don't expect it to just sound "instant dr. dre" like anything in life, it takes practise. Experimentation....
