Mac G4 Crashes Immediately...I'm really new to this

I have finally stepped into the '90s and got myself a PT24 rig with a Mac G4 running OS 9.0.4 I loaded the software exactly as I read in the manual but one problem...every time I go to launch PT the computer locks up. I never even had a chance to register the serial number. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'n not dumb just new to this.

I use a G4 500 PT24mixplus flawlessly now after much headache...

Give some more info so I can help..

i.e.
SCSI card, other PCI cards, USB stuff, Expansion chassis if any, RAM...etc
the more the better

Before you decide that it's actually a crash, there's a copy protection bug in PT.You mentioned you haven't put in the serial number, right?

Launch PT, then go do an errand.

Come back, and it might be ok. Put in your serial number.

I've notice that on our G4's, even after the serial number is in, there is a pause of 15 seconds or so after you open Protools, before the splash screen comes up. Yet our beige G3's, our 9600, and PTpro225 DON'T have this problem with 5.0.1.

Go figure.
