Want Exceptional Clarity In Home Recording Setup
Hello, all.
I have recently obtained Pro Tools M-Powered 8 with a Fast Track on my Windows 7-based laptop with the intention of immediately upgrading to the Fast Track Ultra 8R ( http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CHAQ8wIwAQ# ) for my band's recording process. I am also going to be using the 7-piece Digital Reference drum microphone setup ( http://www.guitarcenter.com/Digital-...62-i1532397.gc ) minus the kick drum mic, I will be using the Audix D6. ( http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CGEQ8wIwAQ# ) My questions are: 1) Will this setup produce clarity in each drum or is it all in the way you engineer it? and 2) Will I have latency issues on my Dual Core (2.16 Ghz), 3 GB RAM laptop? Thanks! |

In the ways of recording, much have you to learn. Mmmmm... Yes. --Yoda.
It's ALL in the engineering. |

Re: Want Exceptional Clarity In Home Recording Setup
But....you don't really expect "exceptional clarity" from $30 microphones, do you?

Re: Want Exceptional Clarity In Home Recording Setup
??
well, I can get "exceptional CLARITY" from a $20 mic. I know tons of others that can as well. But "should" one use all those mics (close mic'd setup on each drum) ? Unless experimenting with sound, likely not. Search and learn about placement, diff type of overhead techniques, room mic placement and you'll find you'll be using less mics than the intended "drum mic kit" with muuuuch better results. Recording is not the same as sound reinforcement. btw: some of the best bass tracks in history have sounded rattier than hell when solo'd |

Re: Want Exceptional Clarity In Home Recording Setup
I'm just saying...one shouldn't expect great sound from a 7 pc $199.00 drum mic kit.
And please tell me where to get one of those "exceptional clarity" $20 mics. I could sell the mic I use on my high hat, and buy 20 of them.
