Dragging 5.1 files from workspace
Hi,
When dragging 5.1 files from the workspace window directly into a track, the files does not sort themselves according to the Default Output Setting (i.e. L-C-R-Ls-Rs-Lf), but alpabethically! You have to first drag them into the audio regions list, and then drag them into a track (PT 6.4). Is this problem fixed in PT 6.7? - Øystein - MAC G5 1,8Ghz 1,5 GB RAM OS 10.3.4 ProTools HD 6.4 cs9 |

Re: Dragging 5.1 files from workspace
In the audio regions list, mono-files with the same filename and file extensions .L and .R are recognized and grouped as stereo files. When dragging a grouped stereofile from the aduio regions list into a stereo track, the two mono-files sort themselves with .L on top and .R at the bottom.
Files with the same filename and extensions .L,.C,.R,.Ls,.Rs,.Lf are recognized and grouped as a 5.1 file in the audio regions list. When you drag a 5.1 file from the list into a 5.1 track, the files will sort themselves according to the Default Output Setting in the I/O setup dialog box (i.e. L,C,R,Ls,Rs,Lf). I the Workspace window, files are displayed as mono-files in alphabethical order. Files with the same filename are not recognized and grouped as stereo or 5.1 files. When you select the six mono-files which contains your 5.1 material and drag them directly into a 5.1 track, the files do NOT sort themselves according to the Default Output Setting, but alpabethically (C,L,Lf,Ls,R,Rs). The result might be that the Center channel plays out the Left output, the Left channel plays out the Center output, etc. The only reason dragging stereo material from the workspace directly into a track works, is simply because L preceeds R in the alphabet... Sorting the files in the audio regions list won't solve this. - Øystein - |
