192 calibration question
Hello,
We've got an HD3 system at our studio and an old vintage Neve. We've always just kept the calibration (in and out) @ -18 just like it was shipped. However, I'm finding that the -18 output calibration level may be a little too hot for our board. I'm thinking about just changing the output calibration to -15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but by increasing the output cal to -15, I will actually be turning down the ouput of Pro Tools to the console. I'm planning on keeping the input cal @ -18. So I guess the real question here is --- Is there any reason I should keep the input and output cal the same? I honestly don't think it matters, especially since our studio uses Pro Tools only as the recording medium. However, any thoughts, advice, or opinions on the matter would be great. Thanks, Danny |
