192 calibration question

Hello,

We've got an HD3 system at our studio and an old vintage Neve. We've always just kept the calibration (in and out) @ -18 just like it was shipped. However, I'm finding that the -18 output calibration level may be a little too hot for our board.

I'm thinking about just changing the output calibration to -15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but by increasing the output cal to -15, I will actually be turning down the ouput of Pro Tools to the console.

I'm planning on keeping the input cal @ -18. So I guess the real question here is --- Is there any reason I should keep the input and output cal the same? I honestly don't think it matters, especially since our studio uses Pro Tools only as the recording medium. However, any thoughts, advice, or opinions on the matter would be great.
