Help needed for installing PT HD 12.7 and HD Native card

Hello everyone,

I am installing an HD native card into my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit machine.
Couldn't find the needed info in the installation manual, so I hope someone here will help answering my questions:

- Should the PT software see the installed HD card if no audio converters are attached to it? (Windows sees the HD Native card and says it works fine).

- I am planning to use an SSL Delta Link MADI HD. Should the PT software see it, if only one Digilink cable is attached from it to the HD Native card?

- Does Avid sell the needed cables between HD Native card and SSL Delta Link MADI HD?

I would expect Pro Tools to NOT work without an interface(IO) attached(even the Thunderbolt HDN box doesn't work without IO, despite having a headphone jack on the box). As for Digilink connections, a single digilink cable is good for 32 IO. You would most likely need 2 for 64 IO Since MADI is an audio protocol, what are you connecting via MADI for your ins and outs?

I am planning to connect two SSL MADI AX converters to the Delta Link Madi HD.

My problem is, that the PT software does not see the the Delta Link Madi HD, which is connected to the HD Native card.

So I wonder if I MUST attach the converter (which is not at my disposal at the moment ) to the Delta Link MADI HD for the software to see the outputs, or should the Delta Link Madi HD be enough for the software to see it.... I have been told, that the PT HD software recognizes the Delta Link MADI HD as the 192 I/O converters...

I am new to the Pro Tools world and don't have the needed experience and knowledge, hence the odd questions...


A last minute update. It seems I might need to buy a Digilink I/O license. I just purchased PT HD with HD Native card bundle.
Still trying to find out if I must buy the I/O license...

With 12.7, you do need the Digilink license, but it should be included. Check you iLok account to see if its still waiting to be moved onto your iLok
