Default Monitor Calibration Question.

Hi Have an Mbox Pro 3. I am wanting to calibrate my monitors.

My question is how would determine what and where the unity gain is for Mbox?

It only has the round knob ya know.

Thank you

Philip

I believe unity gain is when the volume is all the way up. You can calibrate by turning down the volume of your monitors to be a certain level, and then know that when your interface volume knob is all the way up, you're at that calibrated volume.

If you have an iPhone, there are several audio apps that can measure the audio levels, like SPL Meter, JL Audio, UE SPL, Decibles, etc. I guess there are others in the android world.
Also, I have found that the Genelec app is great for speakers alignment.

Put a Tone Generator plugin, play a Pink Noise (same level at all frequency spectrum) tone at -18 dBFS and start reading the volume in dB using the scale C while you're cranking up the MBox volume.
