To be fair that rollout was a total disaster though. Somehow Avid didn't realize their antiquated HDX cards couldn't support the big features of that release - increased voice counts and voice packs.

I'm pretty certain HDX cards won't be any sort of obstacle to Track Folders so my guess is we will see a .3 release just before midnight strikes on 3/31/2020.

That is a pretty good guess, I agree.

Also agree that last year was a total fiasco. At some point I remember reading 15% of HDX cards would fail the firmware update and to me that is not so high a number it could not have been accepted. Just swap the destroyed cards to working ones and be done with it. The amount of spit all of this generated was way more expensive than that. IMO of course. But what do I know, someone at Avid wearing a silk suit and tie gets nice bonuses to keep expenses low.

My thoughts exactly. Hear, hear! It takes a long time to build a brand but it can be destroyed pretty fast. I used to believe I worked in the best Daw, now I am almost embarrassed.

That is the question Avid has tried to answer for a year already...

Of course vanilla is getting track folders.. where has it ever been said that it's an ultimate only feature? remote? I'd say it's guaranteed.

Yeah, given what's been said about Folder Tracks needing to incorporate/touch on every core functionality of Pro Tools, I think it's going to be a very integrated featured and it would be a PITA for them to only make it for Ultimate, and then need to legitimately develop and test 2 versions going forward.
