If you don't need the track count and low-latency throughput for tracking then don't bother with HDX. OTOH, if those things are important to you, then an HDX rig is a very powerful machine, and adds to the power of your existing CPU running native plugs. If I were only mixing, and weren't dealing with hundreds of tracks, I'd be quite happy with a native rig, but an HDX is the only way to go for my needs.
