Default the best quality video output for PT

i'd like pro opinions on getting the best HD quality VIDEO output from a MacPro. price is not a big deal so the cheap canopus box isn't really for me.....Blackmagic and Aja names always seem to come up....appreciate your input....either firewire external or PCIe card....right now i am using the quicktime window, inside a extended dual monitor desktop, which i realize is not optimum...

The best quality option is a Blackmagic card, the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D.

Unfortunately, Avid does not support the AJA line.

not totally true, Media Composer (what most people refer to as Avid) can use the AJA, Blackmagic or, Matrox I/Os
Pro Tools can only use the Blackmagic and it's touchy about codec and resolution

and I think it's wrong http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/...Out/28248-3779

Agreed, if you are talking about ProRes 4444 or maybe even 422HQ, then probably only someone with this monitor, http://www.dolby.com/us/en/professio...e-monitor.html

so am i correct from my reading that when you run a Blackmagic, you are in essence running a separate video stream, and cannot/ is not an extention of the desktop? what is the resolution of the QT window in PT10? is it 720 or what?

since i run an imac , i don't have experience with any PCIe card stuff in a MAC, thus the novice nature of my questions. i've done 2 series now with the little window, and want to move up to the next Macpro with thunderport monitors etc....
