Input monitoring
Is the input monitoring fixed in this edition? This would be a huge help!!!

Re: Input monitoring
What do you mean fixed? Will it auto mute, is that what you're asking?
PT11's new engine is multi buffer. The buffer for plugs in different than the buffer for armed tracks. This allows lower latencies for armed tracks while still having the buffer higher for more plugins. |

Re: Input monitoring
Wow Drew, that's nice!
but to ROBB007, I don't expect it to be "fixed" but you never know maybe there's a different way of working with it now. |

Re: Input monitoring
My question is simple is the new system going to work like a automute exactly ....Like Logic and many other programs .Or is this just another update for Avid hardware?

Re: Input monitoring
I doubt they changed anything in PT11, but soon we'll know more.
But if they changed it, I hope it doesn't work like MuteTone, but like in every other DAW: just switch off the output the moment I'm recording. Not already when arming a track.

Re: Input monitoring
Pro Tools HD users don't have to deal with this, that's why many people don't care when we, non HD Pro Tools users, complain about it. Avid is well aware of this, obviously. Placing a global "Turn off input monitoring" option would do the job for many people and still keep HD with the premium ability of defining this on a track basis. Just don't monitor input ever, that's what I want, as I'm doing this with a external mixer. Using MuteTone does the trick, muting armed tracks when you hit REC, but yet, it's a third party solution for a really simple problem that avid could tacle by possibly simply uncommenting a line of code. It seems to me that avid wants to force you to use their software mixer for monitoring, (and the independent buffers can help lowering latency only for armed tracks, which is nice) but yet, there are many external mixers with very cool features and near zero latency that is still difficult to achieve on native systems.

Re: Input monitoring
in 10 you can turn off input monitoring as long as the tracks are routed to the first 2 outputs. You just turn on "low latency monitoring", which should just be called "disable input monitoring" or something. Maybe it works different with digi hardware but thats how it works with my metric halo.
Wish it was a global pref. like every other daw rather than just the first 2 outputs, but it's much better than the situation in previous versions. wonder if this is addressed at all in 11 |
