Default Re: Mountain lion compatibility

I haven't been very lucky with the OS upgrade to 10.8 (Mountain Lion). Here's the set-up and decision tree.

1) I was running PT 9.0.3 under OS 10.6.7.

2) I needed to upgrade my Waves plugins from v5 to the current v9. This needed 10.7.x (Lion) or 10.8.

3) Apple's website would not let me purchase anything other than 10.8.

4) The PT website indicated that 10.8 was ok to run with PT 9.

5) I upgraded my system to 10.8.

After the OS upgrade, the PT9 icon in my dock grayed out. I tried to load it, and I received an error saying that v9.0.3 wasn't supported and that I needed to upgrade to the latest version. The latest version available was 9.0.6. I downloaded this version and ran the installer. The installer application ran it's course and then stated that the installation failed and I should retry. When I retried the installer, I received the message "ProTools Not Found" and that a valid ProTools installation could not be located. And, when I look in the Finder, the ProTools app is gone from the 'Applications/Pro Tools' folder.

I'm not really sure what to do now. My PT application is apparently gone and the ProTools on-line account site confuses the heck out of me. I still have the original 'v9.0.2 Full Installer' and 'v9.0.3 Updater'. Do I re-run these to get PT back?

Any help would be appreciated.

I didn't clone the drive. I honestly have no idea how that's done other than being aware that it has something to do with 'Time Machine'.

I've been using PT since v3.x. Have never heard a peep from them - other than sales spam. The online docs are difficult (for me) to locate and seem to have conflicting information about system compatibility and update processes.

I tried re-running my v9.0.2 full installer. No luck. The installer launches but then won't do anything. It just bounces in the dock for a while and the stops. CTL-clicking the icon indicates that the 'Application is not Responding'.

My PT v9 software was a download purchase. And, the last installation discs I have are from v7. (Will these work on OSX10.8?) The software download page in my online Avid Account has links for the current (v9.x) installers, but when I try to download them, I get a message stating that the download files no longer exist.

So... I'm stuck.

I think that Avid will quickly launch a version of ProTools HD10 for Montain Lion. But I did not feel they will do something for users of ProTools HD 9.
I bought ProTools HD 9 there are a few over a year. This is not normal that a new version is not proposed.

I had Pro Tools 9.0.6 already installed on my late 2010 MBP and then I installed ML via the app store over Lion. No cloning drives, reinstalling Pro Tools or anything else was needed.

Only problem thus far: weird pops when using iTunes and PT back and forth on the core audio. No issues when only using PT on core audio.

the same procedure as on every osx major upgrade,...

historically it takes ages to get an working update, furthermore there a several indication that avid is more interested in selling pt10 upgrades.

i'm waiting for a clear statement from avid:
- is there an intention to support pt9 on osx10.8?

Don't hold ur breath buddy (about avid stating that they will or will not support -PT9)!!! - if u need PT9 don't upgrade from Lion- the new O/S will not change ur life !!!!! It will probably work just let someone else take the first jump and get all the kinks out
